Two kings quarreled and then went to war. The war went on for many years but at last the army of one king surrounded the castle of the other. The army inside the castle defended bravely for several days. However, the king inside the castle realized he couldn’t win so he ordered the white flag of surrender to be waved. The king outside the castle was delighted and sent a messenger into the castle with an offer.
He declared that all the women inside the castle could leave safely. With them, they could take their most prized possession. Although the king said the women could leave, he planned to punish the men.
The next day the drawbridge of the castle came down and the women emerged from the castle. Some were on foot, others rode horses and some came out on carts. They all carried large heavy bags. Eventually, the last of the women had left and the soldiers entered the castle to look for the men . Shocked, they found all the men inside the castle had vanished. Too late, they realized that the women had carried the men away in their bags. By this time they were long gone.
