The Mischievous Boy
Even though Tom’s father was very strict, Tom was still a wild and mischievous boy. One day he got into a fight with the boy living next door. Tom won the fight and gave the boy a bloody nose and a black eye.
Later that evening the boy’s parents came to see Tom’s father. They complained bitterly about Tom and Tom’s father apologized to them for his son’s behavior and promised he would punish Tom and make sure it never happened again.
After they left Tom’s father took a stick and beat Tom severely. Tom was quite a tough kid but at last he could take it no more and begged his father to stop. “If you behave like this now then what you will be like when you are older?” his father demanded to know. Tom didn’t answer. Do you promise not to beat anyone again? His father shouted. Tom looked up at his father and sobbed, “I promise not to beat anyone again……..until I am a father.”
