Long, long ago a poor farmer had the misfortune to be sent to prison. While he was in prison his wife wrote him a letter. In the letter she told him that she wanted to plant potatoes but the ground hadn’t been ploughed. This was very hard work, and since they didn’t have an ox to do the job, the farmer’s wife didn’t know what to do. The farmer wrote a reply to his wife. In it he said,” Don’t worry, I have buried some gold coins in the field. If you dig them up you will have enough money and won’t need to worry about planting potatoes.” The prison guards, whose job it was to check everything that came into or out of the prison, read the letter many times.
A short time later the farmer received another letter from his wife. She said,” When I woke up this morning I found that the field had been dug up in the night. The farmer laughed and wrote to his wife, “Now you can plant the potatoes.”
