The Big Pot
Tom invited some friends to his house for dinner. However, he realized he didn’t have a big enough pot to cook with. He went to his neighbor and asked to borrow his. The neighbor agreed and Tom took the pot home. The dinner was a great success.
The next day Tom took a small pot and put it inside the big pot. He then took both pots and gave them to his neighbor. The neighbor was perplexed and exclaimed,” But I only gave you one pot.” Tom explained, “While your pot was in my house it gave birth to a smaller pot.” The neighbor was surprised but delighted and happily took both pots back home.
A week later Tom appeared at his neighbor’s house and again asked to borrow the big pot. Of course, the neighbor eagerly agreed.
However the next day Tom did not return the big pot. The following day, the neighbor, worried about his pot, knocked at Tom’s door. He asked Tom where his pot was. Tom said,” Sadly, your pot passed away in the night. The neighbor was dumbfounded. “What? How can a pot die?” he asked in disbelief. “Well, replied Tom, if a pot can give birth, of course it can die too.
Having said that, he closed the door.
